Hot Air

Some of you greenies out there might enjoy this book by David Mackay. He is a British Professor (so Josh could, like, meet him in person almost) and writes about climate change and energy sources. Mostly electricity, which I am a supporter of.

The basic idea of the book:
"Twaddle emissions are high at the moment because people get emotional
(for example about wind farms or nuclear power) and no-one talks
about numbers. Or if they do mention numbers, they select them to sound
big, to make an impression, and to score points in arguments, rather than
to aid thoughtful discussion."

As an engineer I must confess that I sort of like numbers; its nice to read something that doesn't just tell me what I should do to save the world (turn down you A/C, buy CFLs), but also gives an idea of how much good that is actually doing (not enough, as it turns out). He says frequently "If everyone does a little, then we can only achieve a little."

Best of all:
Its Free.

Well, tell Josh I said hi. Also, are you coming to visit this weekend, or what? We're going to go watch King Lear in Central Park on Sunday. Don't want to miss that!

No, I don't want to miss that.

I recently watched a samuri version of king lear called "Ran". So I remember the story.

I Reagan the nice daughter or a mean one?
